The World's Women On-line! is an international platform which brings together work of women artists from 64 countries, with the aim of acknowledging and disseminating their artwork beyond the barriers of language. The site also stands as a practical directory of women art organized alphabetically.
 
 
The project was initiated by Muriel Magenta, professor of the Arizona State University and a multidisciplinary artist whose work experiments with the image in several electronic media and the web. The movement of women artists has been an important reference for his work, inspiring him to initiate a project of digital gallery for women artists, presented at the IV Women Conference of the United Nations in Beijing, China, in 1995.
 
 
The artists part of this platform are locally and internationally recognized professionals in various disciplines such as painting, drawing, sculpture, installation, performance art, electronic art, textile, pottery, jewelry, photography, video, and other artistic expressions.
 
 
The site has a search engine, as well as directories sort in alphabetical order or by artistic discipline. Each of the artists has a space to showcase their work, a short bio and contact details.
