Citizen Led Forensics (Ciencia Forense Ciudadana) is a project by the Citizen-Forensics Governance civil association (Gobernanza Forense Ciudadana A.C.) with support from the UK Economic and Social Research Council and Durham University. The project is led by relatives of the disappeared, working for the right to truth in Mexico with three main goals:

- To establish a mechanism where citizens can systematize and co-govern forensic technologies (database, DNA banks, forums and initiatives for regulatory improvement).

- To ensure the functionality of an online forensic database useful for case documentation.

- To set up a DNA bank containing biological samples from the relatives of the disappeared in Mexico, for use as reference in identification.

The DNA bio-bank is started with a record of missing persons, an online database where relatives of the disappeared can document every case detail and donate a DNA sample if they wish. The record is supplemented with testimonies and statements detailing the missing person and the circumstances surrounding their disappearance. Thus, the bank is comprised by a collection of relatives biological samples aiding in the identification process. Citizen Led Forensics also provides case statistics sorted by event, gender, age, location, level of education and other parameters.
