Freecast Es una aplicación que permite la difusión de audio "peer to peer". Es un programa gratuito creado por el equipo de tryphon.org y sus colaboradores.
Presentación The FreeCast challenge is using the internet connection of each listener to provide the audio stream to the other listeners. This collaborative approach is helpful to avoid expensive and heavy network infrastructures needed by conventionnal network broadcasting applications.

En teoría, el número de oyentes de una red de este tipo es ilimitado, pero en la vida real Internet es caótico... Una red FreeCast debe adaptarse continuamente para mantener la calidad del servicio. Este es un gran reto técnico que debe permanecer invisible a los usuarios de FreeCast.
El objetivo actual es distribuir un flujo de audio a un centenar de oyentes, gracias a una simple conexión ADSL de base. Esto implica que la mayoría de usuarios tendran también una conexión ADSL.
Hacia los que escuchan La difusión por Internet está hecha para ser escuchada y no para confundir a los usuarios en un procedimiento de cofiguración informática. El objetivo principal es proveer de un programa útil a pesar de las dificultades técnicas. El FreeCast ha sido creado con el principio de "Click y escuchar". Dar al usuario el contenido esperado de la manera más simple posible.
Una interface gráfica simple y personalizable con la apariencia de la red, un lector integral, sin necesidad de una configuración de usuario, instalación y actualizaciones automáticas, ayuda a la instalación en diferentes lenguas, el máximo de facilidades para hacer del usuario simplemente...un oyente.
