Es una Comunidad Digital de Conocimiento en español que impulsa la generación e intercambio de contenido educativo, de acceso libre y gratuito entre estudiantes, docentes, e investigadores para contribuir al fortalecimiento de una sociedad mejor preparada que tengan la oportunidad de desarrollar su potencial y vivir con plenitud (http://fundacioncarlosslim.org/educacion-2).
Académica es una plataforma interactiva, impulsada por TELMEX, que reúne contenidos educativos de prestigiadas instituciones de Educación Superior y Centros de Investigación internacionales, con quienes trabaja para compartir el conocimiento y hacerlo accesible a todo aquel que desea aprender y desarrollar su potencial (http://academica.mx/#/quienes-somos).
Description
The Académica "Comunidad digital de conocimiento" (“Digital Knowledge Community”) is an educational project created in Mexico by the Telmex company’s Carlos Slim Foundation in 2011 and renewed in 2015, which is why (to this day) it has two different URLs. It is aimed at university-level students, scholars and the general public. Coursework is offered by participating institutions, such as: Alcatel-Lucent, the American College Foundation, the National Association of Universities and Higher Education Institutions (Asociación Nacional de Universidades e Instituciones de Educación Superior), the Center for University Studies of Baja California (Centro de Estudios Universitarios de Baja California), the Regional Cooperation Center for Adult Education in Latin America and the Caribbean (Centro de Cooperación Regional para la Eduacición de Adultos en América Latina y el Caribe), the Values Center (Centro de Valores), the National College for Technical Professional Education of Mexico State (Colegio Nacional de Educación Profesional Técnica del Estado de México), the National Autonomous University of Mexico (Universidad Autónoma de México), the Mexican and Latin America headquarters of the Open University of Cataluña (UOC)... You can find courses on: accounting, anthropology, chemical engineering, commercial engineering, computer sciences, education, economics, environmental engineering, history, information and communication technologies, literature, management, marketing, mechanical and electrical engineering, medicine, music, nutrition, philosophy, physics, physical engineering, psychology, telecommunications engineering, and tourism. It has 170,157 registered users and It’s signed 495 agreements with other businesses and higher education and research institutions (http://fundacioncarlosslim.org/educacion-2). The platform offers: free online courses conducted on specific dates, free self-learning courses, scholarships, job postings, social services and internships, as well as a small digital library. It’s partnered with MéxicoX, edX, Khan Academy and Coursera.
