Afluenta
Self-portrait
(https://www.afluenta.com/)
Description
Afluenta is a collaborative funding project aiming to do away with bank middlemen in credit management. It is a limited company created in 2012, based in Buenos Aires, Argentina, presided by Alejandro Cosentino, offering an open distribution crowdlending platform. Afluenta establishes a network among enrolled creditors and borrowers (labeled “investors” and “applicants”) once their funding and loan repayment capacity and other personal data related to their financial history have been verified. Each applicant registered on Afluenta’s web site submits a request for a loan, which the investors can bid on with different interest rates and percentages over the total requested amount. The loan is subdivided in as many investors as have been selected, based on their offer’s competitiveness. Once the requested amount has been covered by the investors,
Afluenta centralizes the loan in a single payment obligation, setting up a scheduled payment arrangement charged to the applicant’s bank account. Nominal interest rates range from 35% to 55%, based on the amount and the number of payments. Afluenta collects a commission ranging from 3.5% to 6% + VAT based on the payment due date and profile, as well as other service fees. Afluenta only services citizens residing in Argentina.
