Self-portrait
Description
ColaborativoMX is a Mexican network studiying and promoting the free culture movement in different areas for the community’s benefit. They’ve created a website with information on human rights, art and free culture with links to projects and groups working on the same topics. ColaborativoMX is formed by El Instante de Sísifo, AJUV1121, GutenBorg Lab and Cambalache, taking part in other communities and nodes such as Nodoequis, Sursiendo, Molcajete, Plan B Soluciones, Local and Vlax.
The project´s goal is to promote open software and open culture values fostering critical and autonomous thinking in opposition to the creative and mass media industries, supporting a transformation in the way we create and share knowledge. Through practive and information, the project promotes concepts, ideas and techniques allowing social change and empowerment using their own creative resources. One of their strategies is using Creative Commons licensing for authors and creators to define how their work might be used, shared and modified. The site also has a blog where collaborators post news items on related topics, such as the web’s past and current state, the open culture movement and society, hacktivism and open art events around the world.
