Impulsar la Rendición de Cuentas desarrollando mayores y mejores mecanismos que permitan privilegiar el interés colectivo por sobre los intereses individuales.
Fortalecer la Participación Ciudadana efectiva y fomentar la acción colectiva, consolidando así democracias más representativas y deliberativas.

Description
Ciudadano Inteligente (“Smart Citizen”) is a nonprofit organization creating strategies to foster transparency and public information access, fighting for a participation based democracy. CI was started December 2009 in Santiago de Chile and is made up of a team of people specializing in technology, politics, economics, law, sociology, science, design and communications.
The initiative hosts effective action projects with specific goals, carried out in specific communities. Observatorio Anticorrupción monitors the implementation of goverment projects. Barrios en Acción is a platform where people can report and solve problems in their neighborhood. CI hosts a variety of other initiatives aiming to foster public policies and open government, such as: Agenda Transparencia, Lab Cívico, Congeso Abierto, Quién Te Financía and El Inspector de Intereses.
The project’s work is approached along three lines of action: Lab - developing apps and technology to foster transparency; Incidencia - raising awareness and encouraging citizen participation by direct intervention in transparency policies; Comunidad & Redes - dedicating efforts to link citizens with institutions and experts to collaborate on problem solving.
To maintain a degree of political independence and achieve its goals, CI is not funded by the government nor any political parties. CI has been supported by the Open Society Foundation, UNICEF, Worldbank, FCI Asesorías, My Society and others.
