Self-portrait

Description
Nodoequis is a group of students at the Metropolitan Autonomous University Xochimilco (UAM, in Spanish) aiming to promote the free culture movement among the student community through different communication strategies, creating a core group discussing and analyzing social, political and economic issues. The group’s manifesto posits the possibility of realizing a new era in digital communications where the internet and its power to influence people’s actions and thoughts can be used to transform how ideas are expressed and debated. Free culture is deemed necessary for the exercise of political consciousness and democracy.
Nodoequis manages and promotes multiple free culture projects created by students, as well as other projects associated by common interests. The group runs workshops and symposiums and promotes writings, podcasts and digital material concerning human rights, free software, copyleft rights and web projects, such as El Instante de Sísifo (free art, noise and utopia). The Repositorium Uamero is an archive of digital projects created by UAM students, including any type of original material, like documentaries, publications, audio or web projects.
Nodoequis is a collaborative project, thus inviting students to participate in its communication networks, use free software, use Creative Commons licensing, support web content and design, make donations and advertise the project.
The project’s blog publish content and podcasts on subjects such as university radio broadcasting, thoughts on the university and its community’s social functions, hacker culture and free software. Nodoequis is also associated with related projects, such as Colaborativomx, Rancho Electrónico and Sursiendo.
