Self-portrait

Description

AHA is a mailing list started on December 30, 2002 by Tatiana Bazzichelli, dedicated to activism, hacktivism and artivism. Later on, Bo & Eleonora Calvelli, Lo/Bo, Dedalus and Jonathan Quintini joined in as moderators. The project is considered as a meeting place for open dialogue, a space for exchanging in collaborative forms of activism offering free use of art and technology. All the information material traded in the mailing list, created by its members is copyleft. The AHA encourages everyone to collaborate in blending playfulness, disruption and a sense of artistic creativity in exchange for a type of art that goes beyond a single definition and into a type of activism.

The mailing list originated at the heart of the AHA: Activism-Hacking-Artivism project, which started in Rome in 2001 and later moved to Berlin and Denmark in 2003. The AHA project was created to promote networking culture, the network of networks and Italian hacktivism. The AHA has helped create a network of relationships and practices through exhibits, events, conferences, workshops and meetings in Italy and abroad. The AHA project received an honors mention in the Digital Communities category at the Ars Electronica Festival Prix, Ars Electronica, in September 2007.

This community is part of the Nettime international mailing list circuit.
