Domains, publics and access is an ongoing  research project in media archaeology of the present been developed in Mexico by the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana and the Alumnos47 Foundation since 2015. The core of the research is a wiki where we collect  projects that offer access for the general public to the domains of art, culture, science, economics, politics and technology.

The only condition is that the projects should be associated with the vocabulary of current forms of access counting on the participation of the general public in all domains of social activity. Only the subcategories No lucrativo/ Nonprofit (Private), Lucrativo/Profit (Private) and Estado/State (Public) are part of the cataloguing of all projects. In that way the public initiatives of governments are distinguished from all others and the business model and legal status of the project are indicated when they are clearly published. El objetivo es conservar y documentar la memoria de estas iniciativas que aparecen y desaparecen día a día en diferentes países aprovechando las herramientas disponibles en línea. Como se trata de iniciativas recientes todas cuentan (o contaban) con un sitio web que se archiva en Wayback Machine (archive.org/web), el servicio gratuito que ofrece Internet Archive (archive.org) para conservar páginas web en el formato WARC. La documentación acerca de las modalidades de acceso está organizada en secciones. La razón de conservar y documentar las iniciativas responde al hecho de que los límites del acceso a los dominios del arte, la ciencia, la cultura, la economía, la política y la tecnología nunca han sido estables y seguirán cambiando en el futuro. A fin de ofrece un panorama lo más amplio posible de las diferentes modalidades de acceso que van surgiendo hoy para futuras generaciones se incluyen todo tipo de proyectos no solo heterogéneos sino incluso antagónicos, situados a izquierda y derecha de las luchas políticas y económicas.

Existen en la web muchos sitios dedicados a catalogar proyectos específicos como, por ejemplo, el catálogo de iniciativas p2p de la p2pfoundation.net o el directorio por países y servicios de consumocolaborativo.com, pero ninguno dedicado a reunir las diferentes formas de acceso que conviven en el presente en un mismo lugar. El wiki está pensado para cubrir ese vacío ofreciendo una mirada incluyente de formas de acceso e iniciativas heterogéneas sin tomar partido por ninguna. Se trata de ofrece una herramienta de divulgación a través de la cual el lector pueda hacerse una idea de las posibilidades disponibles, y juzgar por sí mismo los riesgos y las oportunidades que cada forma de acceso y cada iniciativa pone en juego.

Comenzar esta colección ha supuesto un gran esfuerzo a cuatro manos pero catalogar, conservar y documentar las diferentes formas de acceso que proponen una cantidad enorme de iniciativas en todos los países requiere de mucha ayuda. Por eso se han priorizado hasta ahora las iniciativas surgidas en México. Pero con el formato wiki cualquiera que desee colaborar sumando los proyectos que conoce es bienvenido. La colaboración puede consistir en catalogar un nuevo proyecto, corregir o ampliar una entrada sobre un proyecto ya registrado, proponer iniciativas para que sean catalogadas, subir bibliografía, realizar entrevistas y publicarlas, incluir más manifiestos, enviarnos sugerencias y criticas para que podamos mejorar, etc. Solo a través de la colaboración mutua la colección podrá dar cuenta de la historia de las modalidades de acceso en todos los dominios de la vida en común.
