Occupy Museums calls out economic and social injustice propagated by institutions of art and culture.

Occupy Museums began in the first month of Occupy Wall Street to connect cultural institutions to spreading economic inequality. We have experimented with many tactics in a variety of situations and campaigns internationally. Here is the collaborative mission text from 2011: WE OCCUPY MUSEUMS TO RECLAIM SPACE FOR MEANINGFUL CULTURE BY AND FOR THE 99%. ART AND CULTURE ARE THE SOUL OF THE COMMONS. ART IS NOT A LUXURY!
