Aliada is a sharing economy platform owned by Grupo AliadaMX (a limited investment company with variable capital), created in 2014 by Rodolfo Corcuera Meyer as a housekeeping agency. According to its site’s goals, the aim is to dignify housework, advocating for fair treatment and fair wages ($65-$105 mexican pesos per hour), so housekeepers can better balance work and family. Housekeeping professionals and clients are connected through the digital platform to fulfill service requests in offices and homes.
Keeping in mind housekeepers are usually mothers, homemakers or students, the platform allows for flexible work schedules. Aliada aims to address abuse, exploitation and discrimination problems that housekeepers have struggled with while performing their job. Recruitment of personnel is also done through the site, where applicants can upload their curriculum and references, as well as choose their schedule, work area and preferred customers. Deposits are posted on a weekly basis.
Clients can schedule, cancel and pay for appointments, specify their schedule (at least three hours per session) and the tasks to be performed online through the site. The checklist of services offered per hour is divided by task area and includes sweeping, dusting, organizing, doing laundry, ironing, among others. Clients and housekeepers review each other by posting comments about the other’s quality of service and treatment.
