To give fans the best of entertainment in Saturday’s Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, the organisers have lined up series of musicians for the event, which will hold this Saturday with top marathoners expected from different parts of the world.
Organisers of the event said yesterday they have lined up series of side attractions, including top musicians to thrill both the local and foreigners.
Speaking with The Guardian yesterday, the Chief Executive Officer of NILAYO Sports Management Ltd, Bukola Olopade, said that everything needed to make the event a memorable one had been put in place.
"It will be a world-class event and as we speak, a lot of top musicians from different parts of the country are already in Lagos for the event. Olopade, whose Marketing outfit is the official consultant to the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, said Lagos would host a tournament that the whole of Africa will be proud of.
"This year marks the silver jubilee of Lagos State, and the Access Bank Lagos City Marathon is one of the events lined up to celebrate the anniversary. It is going to be a big event, and people from far and near, including volunteers from the United States of America and the United Kingdom have started to arrive. I must thank the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, who is now the chairman of the Organising Committee, as well as the Chief Executive Officer of Access Bank, Herbert Wigwe for the good job they have done," he said.
It was learnt yesterday that some of the musicians that will entertain the fans at Eko Atlantic City finishing point of the race include Davido, Olamide, Techno, Seyi Shay, Kiss Daniel, Koker, Small Doctor, Meirouge and Jire.
Meanwhile, bookmaker, Bet9ja has joined the fold as an official sponsor of the nation’s number one marathon. The Marketing and Corporate Communications Manager, Bet9ja, Mr. Tunji Meshioye said yesterday that apart from sponsorship in cash and kind, Bet9ja would be giving out lots of freebies on the marathon day.
The marathon will take place on February 11, 2017 at 7am. He urged Lagosians to take advantage of the opportunity to come out and have fun while keeping fit at the event, which is already the most talked about marathon in Africa after its first edition last year.
