Curriculum vitae:

Michael Linton is a prominent figure in the world of community currencies. He is the creator of the concept of “Local Exchange Trading System”, commonly known as LETS, back in 1983. He launched and ran the first LETSystem in the world, the Comox Valley LETSystems in Courtenay, British Columbia, Canada.

Previously, and briefly, he was a physicist, chemical engineer, computer programmer, business school graduate (MBA), research psychologist, truck-driver, ski instructor, school teacher, builder, fisherman, logger and retailer.

He is now a systems designer, working primarily on systems for open society.

At present he runs the ‘Community Way dollars’, which are localised, open community currencies. Community way is a new tool for locally based fund-raising and economic development. Donations in community way dollars (cw$) connect non-profits and businesses in a mutually beneficial support cycle.
